Technology
Since all of the science labs are equipped with 14 student computers and internet access, there is no need to reserve the laptop carts or computer labs. We will be able to work directly in the classroom. Should internet access be down, we will simply have to move the lesson to another day. Mrs Graber, our technology specialist will be on site to help with any technical issues with any of the computers.
Timeframe
While the lessons have been set up to be conducted over three days, those days may not be consecutive depending on the collection of data by the students, technical issues, time it take for CIESE to verify and compile data with other schools, and everyday classroom deviations.
Evaluation
Conclusions constructed by the students will be graded on the criteris specified on the assignments page. Overall evaluation of the project will be disscussed by the 7th grade teachers at a team meeting following the completion of the project. As this is the first time that we will be participating in this project, there are several topics that will need to be discussed:
- Was the amount of time needed to complete the project within our time constraints of the curriculum?
- Was the completion of the project beneficial in helping our students understand the occurance of dominant and recessive traits and the steps of the scientific method?
- Ease of inputing and downloading of data from the CIESE site
- Any suggestions for expanding the project or improving the process that
